Brazilian music is rarely just one thing, and this is especially so for the music of São Paulo-based MC and rapper, Emicida. After the African focus of his album ‘About Kids, Hips, Nightmares & Homework’ which at least in part, arose from his trips to Angola and Cape Verde, Emicida has turned his attention to Los Angeles, USA and a collaboration with the award-winning and multi-million selling urban artist, Miguel.

“Oásis” is a stand-alone single. As with his previous work, Emicida’s lyrics are complex and many layered, referencing not only the streets of urban Brazil, but events and polticial situations around the world. However at the heart of “Oásis” lies a love story where, punctuated by Miguel: “your energy is just exhilarating, Oásis, your love and your touch are invigorating”, the chorus proclaims “Mi casa, su casa – My home is your home”.

Released in Brazil on Sept. 12th the official video was viewed more than 448,000 times on Emicida’s own YouTube channel within it’s first 2 weeks of release. Previous videos, notably Passarinhos, have been viewed more than 29 million times, and strong support from a committed fan base around the world - not just for Emicida but also for Miguel - can be expected upon the international release of “Oásis” on October 13th.
